Aibel awarded contracts for electrification of the Sleipner and Gina Krog fields in the North Sea

2020-06-10

In October 2019, Equinor awarded Aibel a FEED contract (Front-End Engineering Design) for electrification of Sleipner. The contract has now been extended to an EPCIC contract (engineering, procurement, construction, installation and completion) through an additional contract from Equinor. The EPCIC contract brings approximately 170 full-time equivalents over a two-year period at Aibel's office in Stavanger and at the yard in Haugesund.

Equinor and its licensing partners have also made an investment decision on electrification of the Gina Krog platform and have awarded Aibel the EPCIC contract for completing the work on electrification of the platform. This contract results in approximately 60 full-time equivalents over one and a half year and the work will be carried out from Aibel's office in Stavanger and the yard in Haugesund.

The contracts have a total value of approximately NOK 600 million and will employ 230 employees over a two-year period. The plan is for Sleipner and Gina Krog to be connected to the power from shore area solution for the Utsira High by the end of 2022.

“Again, we are proud to gain the trust of Equinor to contribute to the transformation to cleaner and more sustainable operation on the Norwegian continental shelf. We have a lot of expertise and experience to draw on in order to ensure good deliveries in this area,” says President and CEO of Aibel, Mads Andersen.
