Ratos for the climate

Ratos works actively to reduce the climate impact of its portfolio companies and to contribute to the transition towards a low-carbon economy. Our climate work is guided by the Ratos environmental policy.

Climate targets

In December 2025, we reached an important milestone when Ratos's reduction targets were validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). This confirms that our targets are in line with the Paris Agreement and the latest science (IPCC) for limiting global warming to 1.5°C.

Our climate targets (with a base year of 2024) cover both near-term targets to 2030 and long-term ambitions for 2050. The work is based on the 2024 baseline and encompasses concrete measures to significantly reduce emissions both within our own operations and across our portfolio companies. Ratos and its portfolio companies thereby calculate their climate impact across the entire value chain (Scope 1–3).

Climate transition plan

To achieve our climate targets, we are establishing a transition plan that sets the framework for climate work across the entire portfolio. Through active ownership, we require our portfolio companies to work towards a gradual phase-out of fossil fuels, including increased electrification and a growing share of renewable energy in their operations.

Sustainable supply chains

The majority of Ratos's climate footprint arises in the value chains of portfolio companies, in Scope 3. Through shared guidelines, policies and follow-up, Ratos works to ensure that portfolio companies develop sustainable processes and progressively increase the proportion of products and services with a lower climate impact.

The EU Taxonomy

The EU Taxonomy directs capital towards sustainable investments and is an important tool in the transition. The Ratos Group conducts activities that directly contribute to the Taxonomy's environmental objectives, in particular the transition to a circular economy and climate change mitigation. We continually develop our processes to meet the requirements of the Taxonomy.

Sustainability-linked financing

Ratos has linked a credit facility of SEK 3.3bn directly to our targets. The terms mean that the interest margin is affected positively or negatively depending on how well we meet the targets, creating strong financial incentives for the transition.
