Science Based Targets

Ratos has had its short- and long-term climate targets validated by the SBTi. This marks
an important milestone in our commitment to driving the transition towards
a sustainable future as an active, long-term owner.

The Science Based Targets initiative provides Ratos with a scientific framework for setting climate targets aligned with the latest climate research. It gives us a structured approach to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, both within our own operations and through active ownership of our portfolio companies, and positions Ratos for a lower-carbon economy. The targets are consistent with what climate science requires in order to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement and limit global warming to 1.5°C.

Commitment

For Ratos, validation means a commitment to reducing emissions across the entire value chain. As an overarching net zero target, Ratos commits to achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions across the entire value chain by 2050 at the latest. The work is based on the reference year 2024 and encompasses concrete measures to significantly reduce emissions both within our own operations and in the portfolio companies.

Commitment

Scope 1 and 2 – Absolute emissions reductions

Total scope 1 and scope 2 emissions (market-based) have decreased by 42%, primarily driven by a reduction in scope 2 emissions attributable to Ratos's procurement of a share of renewable electricity. The proportion of actively procured renewable electricity for the period amounts to 80%.

2030 2050 2025 outcome
Target – Absolute emissions reduction -42% -90% -42%
Target – Share of renewable electricity 100% 100% 80%

Scope 3 – Relative emissions reductions

Emissions intensity in scope 3 has increased by 19%. The increase reflects a combination of lower gross profit and improved data quality.

2030 2050 2025 outcome
Target – Relative emissions reduction -51.6% -97% 19%
