2019-05-08

Mats Johnson has been appointed as the new CEO of Speed Group, a leading supplier of logistics and staffing services. Mats will join the company from his role as Logistics Director at Tamro and will assume his new position in December 2019 at the latest. Until then, Jan Krepp will continue to serve as acting CEO.

Mats has spent his entire career in the logistics sector, having served as Managing Director of Schenker Logistics AB before assuming his current role as Logistics Director at Tamro. During his time at Tamro, Mats has led the company’s efforts to adapt its operations to Sweden’s re-regulated pharmacy and hospital distribution market and automated the operations to achieve increased cost-efficiency and customer value.

“Speed Group is currently in a profitability-enhancing consolidation phase, following a period of strong growth. The Board’s aim is for the consolidation process to be completed in 2019 and for Speed Group to subsequently have a platform from which to continue its journey toward profitable growth. The Board believes that Mats Johnson is the right person to lead the company on this journey. Mats has a solid logistics background and knows what it takes to meet stringent customer requirements for quality and delivery reliability. Mats also has the leadership qualities needed to successfully manage a service company whose employees are its greatest resource. We remain confident about the future prospects of Speed Group, which operates in a growing market with a modern offering and automated warehouse solutions,” says Christian Johansson Gebauer, Chairman of the Board of Speed Group.

Ratos became the majority owner of Speed Group in 2015. The company is currently a national supplier of logistics, staffing, recruitment and training services, with strong growth in an attractive underlying market. Speed Group has approximately 1,100 employees and sales of SEK 763m for the rolling 12-month period ending 31 March 2019.
